SCHOOLS Program 2023

Program 1

This year’s chosen theme, Waiata a ngā manu

The vision for TWL23 is for students of all ages to participate in and engage with art at a community level, with a strong focus on education around our chosen theme.
This year’s program is featuring the students from Takapuna Primary School and Campbell’s Bay Early Learning Centre.

In 2023 we are looking at native birds found all around Aotearoa. Students will create and illustrate pictures of native birds, which will then be scanned and transformed into an animated projection.

Learning will be in three parts: biology, art and Te Reo, bringing together science, art and language.

‘Waiata a ngā manu’ which means ‘Birds Song’, showcases a magical world, filled with colour and birdlife.

The music for Waiata a ngā manu is composed by Mark Johnson, while the ever-transforming,
magical realm is created by Daniel Brown, Professor of Design Studio, Victoria University Of
Wellington.

Ko te kaupapa i tēnei tau ka whakakite i ngā tauira mai i Takapuna Primary School me Campbell’s Bay Early Learning Centre.

Ko ‘Waiata a ngā manu’ ka whakaatu i tētahi ao mīharo, kī katoa i ngā tae me ngā manu.

He mea tito ngā puoro mō Waiata a ngā manu e Mark Johnson, ā, ko te ao miharo e huri haere ana he mea hanga e Daniel Brown, he Professor of Design Studio ki Te Herenga Waka.
